Album Back-Story

Why the name Prophet’s Call? In the book of Jeremiah, chapter 1 and verse 5, God told Jeremiah that He called him from the womb. He said, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” Does this mean that God calls every person to a specific calling before they are even born?

We studied the Biblical prophets and found that they were leaders and advisors, many advising kings about wars and about things that they were doing that displeased God. Some prophets were not very popular.

The Prophet’s Call album is a call to worship, a call to acknowledge the gifts and calling that God has put within every person, and a call to take back the territory that has been lost. And it is a call to press in and keep pressing in until you are victorious.

The album cover is a profile of a face with a glow behind the mouth, indicating that God can call anyone – and seems to delight in calling those who don’t know much about what they are called to do – but it is His glory which empowers and speaks through us.

Why a Donkey?

We adopted the donkey image as a visual representation of Music for the Christian Warrior for an earlier album. Why a donkey? In the book of Numbers, chapter 22, God reprimands Balaam by allowing a donkey to speak to him prophetically because he ignored the warning of the prophet that God sent. We simply wanted to remind ourselves that, while God prefers to use His people, He can use any method He desires to get His message across. This was our semi-humorous way of remembering that it is God who gives us voice.

God saved Jim’s life even before Jim knew Him. When Jim was in his sophomore year of college (before I had met him), he evidently overdosed on drugs. As he was sitting upon a stool in his apartment playing his guitar, he looked down into the open guitar case, which was lined with vivid purple crushed velvet, and saw his own face. As he watched, the flesh melted away until only his skull was left.

Then he felt himself falling. He fell through the floor, through the earth, down and down, until he was in a dark place. He could hear the screams and pleas of tormented people and ahead of him he saw two large creatures on either side of a portal. He felt that when he entered this gate, there would be no escape, but he had no control over his descent. As they reached out their claws for him, he suddenly he felt a warm hand on his shoulder and a voice saying “I have something better for you,” and He immediately began to rise.

Early In The Morning

by Jim Hronchek | Prophet's Call

When he returned to his body, because of this disturbing encounter, he put his guitar away for many months.

When we later discussed this, we believed that he had descended towards hell and was about to enter its portal when Jesus called him back. We firmly believed that someone was earnestly praying for him at that very moment in order for this to happen.

When he finally picked up his guitar again, he composed Early In The Morning. Jim had things to ponder. God had called him to a greater purpose but what was he to do? It was not until many years later that someone at his workplace led him through the prayer of salvation.

Years after his born-again experience, he decided to record Early In The Morning on the Prophet’s Call album. When he originally wrote it, he played all of the parts at the same time on his acoustic guitar (quite a feat, really). For the album, he also laid down rhythm tracks.

LYRICS

Verse 1
Early in the morning
I feel a little hazy
Pull myself together
If I’m not to lazy
No, I haven’t thought
Of where I’m gonna go today
I’m thinkin’ of You
Show me the way

Chorus
I can’t keep on waiting
Everything is flowing
I can hardly tell You know
I need You today
To show me the way

Verse 2
Early moon is rising
Over my pathway
It silhouettes Your Spirit
I’ll be with You today
Still I wonder who
Made the clouds go away
I think it was You
Who showed me the day

Chorus
I can’t keep on waiting
Everything is flowing
I can hardly tell You know
I need You today
To show me the way

I need you today
To show me the way
