Album Back-Story
Why the name Prophet’s Call? In the book of Jeremiah, chapter 1 and verse 5, God told Jeremiah that He called him from the womb. He said, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” Does this mean that God calls every person to a specific calling before they are even born?
We studied the Biblical prophets and found that they were leaders and advisors, many advising kings about wars and about things that they were doing that displeased God. Some prophets were not very popular.
The Prophet’s Call album is a call to worship, a call to acknowledge the gifts and calling that God has put within every person, and a call to take back the territory that has been lost. And it is a call to press in and keep pressing in until you are victorious.
The album cover is a profile of a face with a glow behind the mouth, indicating that God can call anyone – and seems to delight in calling those who don’t know much about what they are called to do – but it is His glory which empowers and speaks through us.
Why a Donkey?
We adopted the donkey image as a visual representation of Music for the Christian Warrior for an earlier album. Why a donkey? In the book of Numbers, chapter 22, God reprimands Balaam by allowing a donkey to speak to him prophetically because he ignored the warning of the prophet that God sent. We simply wanted to remind ourselves that, while God prefers to use His people, He can use any method He desires to get His message across. This was our semi-humorous way of remembering that it is God who gives us voice.
Prophet's Call
Sometimes God calls us to go out to the nations, and sometimes He calls us to be His light in our own neighborhoods. When God calls, it is noble and honorable, regardless of where or when. Prophet’s Call was written about a man who was from Indonesia, who came to the United States to minister to us. It humbles me to think that another nation would consider the US in need of this ministry when it is usually missionaries from the US that go out to other countries.
LYRICS
Verse 1
Lord I come before you boldly
Seeking mercy, grace and power
Extend Your hand and touch me
Make my words a burning fire
If You’re looking for a messenger
To send into the world
Here am I, send me
Chorus
Send me to the nations
Send me to the world
Make my words a burning fire
Here am I, send me
Send me to the nations
Send me to the world
Stretch Your hand and touch my lips, Lord
Here am I, send me
Here am I, send me
Send me
There’s a remnant that You’ve purchased
Scattered all around this globe
There’s a people You’ve empowered
To be bearers of Your love
If You’re looking to choose one of us
To send into the world
Here am I, send me
Chorus
Send me to the nations
Send me to the world
Make my words set hearts afire
Here am I, send me
Send me to the nations
Send me to the world
Stretch Your hand and touch my lips, Lord
Here am I, send me
Here am I, send me
Here am I, send me
Send me, send me, send me
