Album Back-Story
A warrior has many sides. There is the fierce side, ready to do battle, but there is also the resting warrior, the warrior who is praying because, after all, there is no guarantee that you will come back alive, the warrior who is relaxing with friends, and many others. So, just because Wake Up Ye Mighty is aimed at the warrior does not mean that all of the music is for battle.
We were attending a class one mid-week evening, when suddenly Jim had a vision for this album. He excused himself, then sat nearby writing in his notebook what God was showing him about how this album was to be. I believe he wrote two of the songs at that time also.
The cover art, while not exceptionally sophisticated, was designed this way in order to save on printing costs (this was before the days of digital printing). The cover was created with only two negatives rather than four that would be used for full color, so there were only two passes through the press rather than four. Each negative was assigned either the blue or the green color.
Why a Donkey?
We adopted the donkey image as a visual representation of Music for the Christian Warrior for an earlier album. Why a donkey? In the book of Numbers, chapter 22, God reprimands Balaam by allowing a donkey to speak to him prophetically because he ignored the warning of the prophet that God sent. We simply wanted to remind ourselves that, while God prefers to use His people, He can use any method He desires to get His message across. This was our semi-humorous way of constantly reminding ourselves that HE is the Creator and we are the created.
The Lord God The Almighty
LYRICS
Verse 1
The Lord God, the Almighty
It is He who made the heavens
It is He who made the earth
And all that is upon it
The Lord God, the Almighty
It is He who made the moon and stars
It is He who made the sun
To give light on the earth
Chorus 1
Sing unto the Lord the Almighty
Make His name a banner in our land
Gather all the people who revere Him
And tell them of His wonders once again
Verse 2
The Lord God, the Almighty
It is He who made the angels
It is He who made all men
And every living creature
The Lord God, the Almighty
It is He who called the prophets
It is He who sent His Son
To bring light on the earth
Chorus 2
When the Lord revisits His creation
The Lord God the Almighty shall reign
He has judged the nations from the heavens
And He shall judge the nations from the earth
