Album Back-Story
A warrior has many sides. There is the fierce side, ready to do battle, but there is also the resting warrior, the warrior who is praying because, after all, there is no guarantee that you will come back alive, the warrior who is relaxing with friends, and many others. So, just because Wake Up Ye Mighty is aimed at the warrior does not mean that all of the music is for battle.
We were attending a class one mid-week evening, when suddenly Jim had a vision for this album. He excused himself, then sat nearby writing in his notebook what God was showing him about how this album was to be. I believe he wrote two of the songs at that time also.
The cover art, while not exceptionally sophisticated, was designed this way in order to save on printing costs (this was before the days of digital printing). The cover was created with only two negatives rather than four that would be used for full color, so there were only two passes through the press rather than four. Each negative was assigned either the blue or the green color.
Why a Donkey?
We adopted the donkey image as a visual representation of Music for the Christian Warrior for an earlier album. Why a donkey? In the book of Numbers, chapter 22, God reprimands Balaam by allowing a donkey to speak to him prophetically because he ignored the warning of the prophet that God sent. We simply wanted to remind ourselves that, while God prefers to use His people, He can use any method He desires to get His message across. This was our semi-humorous way of constantly reminding ourselves that HE is the Creator and we are the created.
Wake Up Ye Mighty
The title song, Wake Up Ye Mighty, was originally made into a medley with Call Forth the Mighty. For this song clip, I removed Call Forth, which is why it ends kind of suddenly.
Special thanks to Pastor Phil Spencer of Spirit Wind Church in Kokomo, Indiana, and our son, Jeff Hronchek for blowing the rams horns.
LYRICS
Verse 1
Wake up ye mighty men of war
Put praises on the lips of Zion
Now let the weak say
“I am strong”
In executing judgement
on the nations
Shout out the victory
Let praises reach the heavenlies
Come into your valley of decision
Chorus
Come get thee up
Wake up ye mighty
Come get thee up
Wake up ye mighty
Come get thee up
Wake up ye mighty
Wake up ye mighty men of war
Verse 2
Our Captain is the Lord of Hosts
He’s gathering His remnant
from the nations
Take up the weapon of His Word
March forward,
strong and courageous
Shout out the victory
Let praises reach the heavenlies
Come into your valley of decision
Chorus
Come get thee up
Wake up ye mighty
Come get thee up
Wake up ye mighty
Come get thee up
Wake up ye mighty
Wake up ye mighty men of war
Ending
Wake up ye mighty men of war
Put on the armor of the Lord
Wake up ye mighty
