What Does God’s Throne Room Look Like?
There are many scriptures all over the Bible that describe God’s Throne Room, possibly only a single aspect. Here are several descriptions.
1. All the host of heaven stand around the throne on the right and the left. There are myriads of angels, elders and beasts. There is a lot of sound.
Again he said, Therefore hear the word of the LORD; I saw the LORD sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left. 2 Chronicles 18:18
A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. Daniel 7:10
And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands… Revelation 5:11
2. There are 24 elders around the throne, clothed in white with gold crowns on their heads. There are angels who stand around the throne and the elders. There are four beasts.
And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold. Revelation 4:4
And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God… Revelation 7:11
3. There is fire and lightning and thunder around the throne. There are seven lamps burning before the throne. You can hear voices in the Throne Room.
3 A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about. 4 His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled. Psalm 97:3-4
And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. Revelation 4:5
4. There are seraphim above the throne.
1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. Isaiah 6:1-2
5. Angels come and go before the throne. There is a golden altar before the throne. There is incense in the throne room of God.
And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. Revelation 8:3
6. There is a sea of glass before the throne.
Over the heads of the living beings there was something like an expanse like the awesome gleam of crystal. Ezekiel 1:22
And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. Revelation 4:6
7. There is a river in the throne room.

1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. Revelation 22:1-2
8. There are creatures around the throne.
As for the form of their faces, eadh had the face of a man, a lion, a bull and an eagle. Ezekiel 1:10
7 And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. 8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, LORD God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. Revelation 4:7-8
9. There are seven spirits which stand before the throne. There is a Lamb which stands before the throne.
And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD… Isaiah 11:2
John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne… Revelation 1:4
And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. Revelation 5:6
10. The throne of Jesus is next to the throne of the Father (at the right hand).
The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. Psalm 110:1
Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens…. Hebrews 8:1
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2
To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. Revelation 3:21
Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Matthew 26:64
11. The throne exhibits the character of God’s administration.
Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne. Psalm 97:2
Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face. Psalm 89:14
God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness. Psalm 47:8
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16
