Album Back-Story
More Precious Than Gold was our first album, professionally recorded in 1982 at Pinebrook Studio in Alexandria, Indiana. It was produced by Steve Millikan, a very gifted musician who also played keyboards and arranged the instruments and vocals for the pieces. Sound engineer: Steve Archer; bass guitar: Steve Dokken; percussion: Steve Hanna; electric and acoustic guitars: Jim Hronchek; trumpet: Gregory Tryling; English horn, saxophone and clarinet: Greg Imboden; background vocals Shelly Harris, Julie Makers, Craig Patty, Chandra Hronchek, Steve Millikan and members of New Covenant Fellowship. The synthesizer was a Pro One, an early monophonic synthesizer, and was played by Jim H, Steve M and Charles Woodrick. Each song from the album was based on The Lords Prayer, exploring its depths of meaning. All of the song lyrics were meticulously based on scripture from the King James Bible.
Thy Will is based on: John 1:1; Matthew 26:42; Luke 22:45; Mark 14:34; Matthew 26:39,42; Mark 14:36; Romans 8:38,39; Philippians 2:8
Thy Will
Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven …
Thy Will, begins as a very intimate and introspective prayer, then cuts to Jesus as he must have been when he prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane before his crucifixion. As he struggled with what he knew was coming, he agonized in his spirit as his flesh did battle with his mind to accept the will of the Father. Jesus, in his humanity, demonstrated that even as we struggle with things that tempt us, we also can overcome and bow to the will of God. This song was the third song of the album, More Precious Than Gold, based on The Lord’s Prayer.
LYRICS
Verse 1
Those beautiful words
“Thy will be done”
Shall live in my heart forever
Not to be alone
but among every word
That You are my Lord
my God
Let me grow into Your arms
But not behind
my stubborn will
Your love Lord
is all I need for life
May I tell it always
as You desire
With those beautiful words
“Thy will be done”
In the Garden rose a man
Whose mission was
near its end
Verse 2
Can there be another way
To do this thing You command?
Could I rather choose my own way
That would please You just as much?
Let it pass! Let it pass!
Take this cup from my hand!
But it’s time and I see
All things are possible with Thee.
Abba, Father, Abba!
I know You love me always
So I submit my will to You.
Father, I will do it.
Let Your purpose be fulfilled
Verse 3
Those beautiful words
“Thy will be done”
Shall live in my heart forever
Not to be alone
But among every word
That You are my Lord
my God.
